19 April 2023 | 4.00 - 5.00 pm (Kuala Lumpur) | Webinar
As tax authorities step up audits, enforcement and other tax collection measures, taxpayers have correspondingly also upped their propensity to challenge the former’s actions, even to the apex courts. In the common law system practised in the Commonwealth countries, the stare decisis principle holds sway so that case law plays a significant role in shaping the law of the land.
Join us for this webinar as our speakers share their insights on several recent tax cases decided by the superior courts of India, Malaysia and other jurisdictions that may have far-reaching implications, including Engineering Analysis Centre of Excellence Pvt Ltd v. CIT, DGIR v. Malaysian Bar and Frucor Suntory New Zealand Limited v. CIR, as well as the issue of services payments classified as royalties under the Australian-India tax treaty which has been contested in various cases and finally resolved through legislation.
