The IFA Breakfast event will have a technical presentation on the “Multilateral Instrument in a GCC regional context” by Jan Roderick van Abbe, Director at Deloitte. With the MLI having entered into force on 1 July 2018 and now covering 93 jurisdictions worldwide, this OECD BEPS driven initiative is truly a game-changer for double tax treaty application going forward. Because almost all GCC countries have now also signed up to the MLI, its impact in the region will be a very important aspect to consider for internationally active tax professionals.
This will be followed by a session on “UAE Economic Substance: Recent Developments” led by Daniele Dal Corso, Director at EY. The session will provide a timely update on the Q&A recently published by the Ministry of Finance and the communications shared by certain appointed authorities in relation to notification and filing requirements.
As always IFA feels that an important part of our gatherings is brainstorming and exchanging experiences and ideas within the wider group. So please do not hesitate to share your views and experiences during the Q&A after the presentation. We look forward to it.
We hope that you can all attend this very interesting session on 4 February. If you have not yet done so, please let us know if you can / cannot attend by responding to: [email protected] before Thursday 30 January.
